2013 Central American and Caribbean Unified Soccer Invitational

The Central America Unified Soccer Invitational will take place in San Jose, Costa Rica from May 9-17 in regional professional soccer stadiums (Cuty Monge and Coleya Fonseca). Team USA is made up entirely of Washington and Oregon Special Olympics Athletes as well as Unified Partners from the Sounders FC Development Team.

Swag and Burgers!

The team met up Tuesday night at Hampton Inn Suites in SeaTac, where they were met with an amazing stack of Sounders swag and soccer gear, courtesy of Seattle Sounders FC & Adidas.  It was like everyone's birthday!  After saying goodbye to family members and having a brief team meeting, we all piled into a shuttle and headed off to Red Robin for dinner, where Special Olympics Washington CEO, Beth Wojick, was waiting for us.  Trainer Dennis Sanchez made sure the guys ate the proper food (no fries, lots of water, and we ended the evening with a round of "Happy Birthday" for Dionte, who was turning 17!  His gift? FIFA 13!  After that, it was back to the hotel, where we rounded up bags and sent the guys off to bed, for our 2:30 a.m. wake up call!
